Microwave Ovens are the neglected part of the working environment, from a busy Restaurant Kitchen to a small works communal area.
Normally they just work, and are seen to work and everyone is happy. Are they working safely and efficiently is another question all together.
Broken seals, damaged doors and hinges could leak out high frequency radio waves, which we all here scare stories about.
They also get old and do not heat the products as they should with the timings stated on the menu guides. This could lead to food poisoning and a potential law suit.
The First Microwave check is included in the service charge.
Any additional microwave is tested for £3.50.
This price is to check for microwave leakage, interlocks working correctly and the efficiency of the microwave against the stated wattage to help prevent possible food poisoning.
We do this by getting 300ml of water and measuring the temperature of the water, before and after it has been heated for 1 minute.
Then using a simple formula we can actually tell you what Wattage the microwave is outputting and advise on getting a replacement if required.
Please note we do NOT sell microwaves and we will NOT recommend any manufacturer or make. We are testers and will give you our honest opinion.
